D4.3 ā€“ Report on Open Urban Data Lessons Learned

This document contains discussion conducted in the VaVeL transversal topics which is usage and processing Open Urban data including crowdsourcing as a possible source of data. This document was prepared as part of Task T4.5 Open Urban Data.

The report shows, that through the implementation of the VaVeL project we have gone beyond the current state of art (since the beginning of the project) - based on the comparison between the availability of data from urban resources before and after the project What is worth of emphasize is the issue of data protection (privacy), with two separate aspects for Warsaw data and for video data from Dublin. The privacy protection is made perfectly in the "privacy by design" model by design and keeping the transparency at every stage of process.

Additionally what is valuable for any other based on the urban data use cases, the crowd- sourcing is used and implemented as an effective and useful method of gathering the information. The ambition of the project was also to include data from crowd-sourcing. They are an effective source of information and they were included in the data collecting system and are monitored. However, the nature of the solutions provided does not yet allow their full use (the document contains a discussion on their usefulness for the proposed solutions).
